The property can be divided into ‘wings’ one with 4 and one with 5 bedrooms. Each has its own lounge, dining room and kitchen, ideal if more than one family are sharing. This superb property is a traditional Laurageaise farmhouse in the style of a luxury country villa. It enjoys privacy, being the only property at the end of a rural road set on a hillside next to a wooded area. It is situated in beautiful landscaped gardens with 100-year-old trees, surrounded by fields and enjoys wonderful views due to its privileged location. The origins of the property date back to1843 and it was renovated to an extremely high standard in the late 90’s with high quality fittings, stylish bathrooms, gas central heating and many luxury features Constructed of stone and brick under a tile roof with many original
decorative ironwork features it is warm in winter and remains cool in the

A cot, high chair and stair gate are also available. High quality pillows, duvets, bed linen, towels, pool towels, cleaning/housekeeping and pool services are all included in the rental price. A Chef is available for full catering service or individual meals/bar-b-q’s/gourmet dinners. Grounds and Gardens: Large swimming pool (12.5m x 6.5m) enclosed by trees with Italian style pool house with changing room and shower room, sun loungers, chairs, tables and parasols. Shallow pond with Italian fountain feature and arbor with seating area. The gardens are all landscaped with trees, flowers, shrubs, paths, lighting and many stone benches to sit under the shade of the trees or look out at the views across the valley. There is a children's swing set. If La Grande Maison is used separately there is a gate which ensures a private garden area. There is a shady parking area at the approach to the house and the house is entered by impressive white ironwork gates. Near the entrance is Le Jardinet, a small gatehouse used by any staff or the owners. The Area: Residence La Guiraude is situated in one of the most varied regions of France. The immediate area is predominantly rural and full of sunflower fields in the hot summer. Not far away the land turns to vineyards as far as the eye can see with such wines as Minervois and Corbieres. It has the towering snow covered peaks of the Pyrenees just over an hour to the south, the Languedoc coast 1 ¼ hours to the East, forests, gorges and caves to explore. It is a few kilometres from Villefranche de Lauragais, a traditional French town with all amenities, many boulangeries, a weekly market and a good supermarket. The area has a rich history dating back to the Cathars and the historic cities of Toulouse and Carcassonne are within ½ hour drive. There are further castles, cathedrals and medieval market towns such as Revel and Mirepoix to explore. The local area is well served by country restaurants, pizzerias and 3 Michelin one star restaurants for gourmets. Close by are lakes with all water sports available, the Canal du Midi lined with tall Plane trees offering walks, boat trips and cycle excursions. There is horseback riding and cycle hire nearby. |
