 Red Blanket Cabin is named for the beautiful Red Blanket Creek located within easy walking distance of the cabin.
A drive to the top of Red Blanket Mountain offers awesome views of the surrounding areas.

The Cabin is a custom built 2 bedroom, one bath home with many amenities located in the rural Cascade mountains of Southern Oregon. Locally cut rough sawn cedar siding and pine & cedar interior walls are accented with custom woodwork throughout. It is nestled on a wooded acre on the outskirts of Prospect, OR (pop. 500).

Do not let the word cabin fool you. There is nothing rustic about the full service kitchen, sleep number King-sized Log Bed, modern bathroom and entertainment center. You can also enjoy your day on the comfortable front porch or large patio area out back with a fire pit and charcoal BBQ for outdoor entertaining.
 
The grounds are well kept, encircled by young ponderosa pine trees with plenty of bird watching on and near the property. If you are looking for a peaceful place to get away from your hectic life this is it. It is not meant for loud parties or crowds.

The owners, Steve and Janna Little, have lived and worked in Southern Oregon all their lives. They have a combined 50 years of work experience with the US Forest Service and can be a useful source of information about local sights, native plants and the wild animals in the area as well as local history.

  • Rogue River Gorge (10 mi) *Natural Bridge on the Rogue (8 mi)
  • Mill Creek Falls (2 mi + hike) *Lost Creek Lake (10 mi)
  • Nearby trailheads to the Pacific Crest Trail (within 10 miles)
     
  • The Wild and Scenic Rogue River. There is access to all aspects of this majestic river from its headwaters (about 20 mi and a hike) to the main river below Lost Creek Lake. There are areas for rafting novices as well as seasoned rafters and kayakers. There are fantastic views of the river and quiet, out of the way places to see and enjoy it.
  • Prospect is also located along the Rogue-Umpqua Scenic Byway.

Popular summer activities in these areas include fishing for trout & salmon, fly fishing, hiking, mountain biking, rafting, numerous day hikes and drives, seasonal horseback riding and seasonal off road vehicle trail systems.

Activities abound for the winter enthusiast. Snow park areas and Snowmobile staging areas are less than an hour away with well-groomed trails leading into the winter wilderness offering spectacular views, open slopes and dense forests. A Snow Play area at Union Creek (11 miles away) is a favorite of people to bring their own inner tubes and sleds. A historic shelter at the site offers a place to have a fire and get warm and dry.

The West entrance to Crater Lake is open year round unless extreme winter conditions exist. There are breathtaking views that only winter at the Park can offer. Diamond Lake Resort offers rentals of snow play equipment of all types as well as many miles of well-groomed trails. They are both approximately one-hour drives from the cabin in the winter depending on weather conditions.

Bring your snowmobiles, cross country skis, snow shoes, inner tubes and sleds and explore this beautiful part of the Cascades during the winter months and return to the cozy Red Blanket Cabin each evening.

There is no phone but if you need to keep in touch there is cell phone coverage in this area.

* 50% deposit to hold reservation.
* 2 night minimum (due to cost of cleaning).
* 3 night minimum for Christmas & Thanksgiving.
* For Best Availability make reservations at least 2 weeks in advance.
* At time of booking a 50% deposit will guarantee the reservation. Balance is due 14 days prior to arrival.
** A 1% Oregon State Lodging Tax will be added.
* Cancellation Policy: If reservation is cancelled more than 30 days prior to arrival a $50.00 fee will be charged. If reservation is cancelled 30-14 days prior to arrival, no refund of 50% deposit. Any cancellation less than 14 days prior to arrival, no money will be refunded.
* Credit cards accepted (Visa & MasterCard).
