Postira is a small,
unspoilt fishing village about 15km from the ferry port, Supetar on the
island of Brac.
Brac is a 40-minute
ferry journey from Split. Postira is a good base from which to explore the
rest of the island, which has many secluded beaches, including the beautiful
sandy beach of Lovrecina, approximately 1km from the house.
Perhaps the best
known sandy beach, however, is “Zlatni Rat” or Golden Cape in Bol, which is
also very popular with windsurfers and sailors. International windsurfing
competitions take place in Bol in June.
There is a little
supermarket/bakery about 80m from the house and the village centre a few
hundred metres further along has several café bars and restaurants. Fresh
fish can be bought from the town’s little fish market or direct from the
fishing boats in the morning. The local people are warm and friendly and,
helpfully, younger Croatians are able to speak some English.
Illyria
is a very old,
traditionally built fisherman’s cottage, which has been sympathetically
restored to retain the authenticity of the property, but also to add the
benefits of modern living. Locally quarried Brac stone is used throughout
to enhance its local character and give it a cool and serene appearance and
feel.
Both the house and
private terrace offer breathtaking sea and mountain views. The translucent
turquoise waters of the Adriatic gently lap Illyria’s outer walls and is
easily accessed via the terrace. Fish are plentiful – why not catch your
own supper below and pop it straight on to the charcoal BBQ on the terrace!

Accommodation
Details:
Access to the house
is either via street level, or by a short path leading down directly to the
terrace. The house has three floors, comprising:
Upper floor
1 double bedroom, 1 twin bedroom and a separate shower room. The twin
bedroom enjoys views directly across the Adriatic. The double bedroom is
fully air-conditioned and allows good storage. Both bedrooms are equipped
with televisions. The shower room is sea-facing and of a good size and
easily accessed from both bedrooms.
1st
floor
Large entrance area with storage space, master bedroom with wide and
spectacular sea views and en suite bathroom. The master bedroom is equipped
with large fitted wardrobes, television and air-conditioning.
Sea level
Open plan lounge and kitchen/diner. The lounge is equipped with satellite TV
and a comprehensive DVD collection. If you prefer switch off the TV and
enjoy the view out of the French doors – right out across the Adriatic to
Split. The lounge can be easily converted to allow further sleeping space
if required. The Kitchen is equipped with all modern kitchen accessories
including dishwasher.
There is a mooring
post situated in front of the property, making
it suitable for those with a small yacht or boat.

* Prices based on 6 people sharing the property. Each extra person will
be charged £50/week.

security deposit of 300 Euros will be payable on arrival on the Island
and will be refunded by our property agent after return of keys and
property inspection on departure.

All bookings are confirmed by a deposit payment of 50% of
the full amount due. A refund equal to 75% of the deposit will be made
where at least 4 weeks notice is given.
